What is a Virtual Visit (VV)?
This is a visit (with one of our physicians) via phone or video conferencing in lieu of an in-person visit, usually arranged as a result of either a distance barrier between The Sante Center and the patient, or the patient being house-bound for some reason or another. As well, we can provide VVs for short discussions with patients where an in-person exam/visit is less necessary, as a convenient and time-saving option for local patients.
Why Virtual Visits?
We love helping people, and making ourselves available to as many people as possible. We recognize that many factors, including distance, health conditions, and even time or convenience are barriers, or at least considerations, to obtaining care for our patients. As such, we aim to circumvent these challenges as much as we can, whenever possible – and we believe VVs can help us accomplish just that.
What to Expect
If you are a prospective patient, seeking an initial overview evaluation with some specific needs or questions, contact us by phone or email to arrange for a 20 minute consultation with one of our physicians for a nominal fee to see how we might best be able to assist you. If, however, you are seeking a more comprehensive evaluation or definitive treatment plan, we will obviously need to plan accordingly to arrange for a longer consultation session.
If you are a patient with an established relationship with The Sante Center, simply contact us or inquire about VVs at your next visit, to determine whether this would be appropriate for you.
What is the benefit of video conferencing over phone conferencing, and is there a difference in fees?
Psychological studies have repeatedly shown that the majority of our human communications are transmitted by non-verbal expressions. As such, as valuable as real-time phone conversations are, they are greatly lacking in optimal communication. As we take your healthcare very seriously, and wish nothing but the best for you and your loved ones, we offer video conferencing at no extra charge, simply as an option in addition to phone conferencing.
What if I don’t have a web camera at home?
No problem – we can arrange for a one-way video conference discussion, where you can see us, even if we can’t see you.
Alternatively, we can just simply use the phone for conferencing.
I am not aware of having any sort of video conferencing software on my computer?
Not a problem – as a patient at our Center, we provide you with a state-of-the-art health record software program that includes a secure video conferencing (and email messaging) system for you to communicate with us, and vice versa. It’s just one of many features of our office we are proud to offer our patients, to improve their healthcare experience!
If you are new to our office and not yet an established patient, and wish to use video conferencing for the first VV consultation, we will direct you to downloading the Skype program for free from the internet for this initial visit.
How do I know if my condition or my treatment plan is such that VVs are an option to me?
Easy – just ask us by email, phone, or in person at one of your visits! We’ll be happy to respond to you right away.
